At 1 p.m. Saturday, an author of inspirational and Amish fiction will speak and sign books at the Newton Falls Public Library, 204 S. Canal St.
Mary Ellis’ first Amish novel, “A Widow’s Hope,” was a finalist in the 2010 ACFW Carol Awards and received the Award of Merit for the Holt Medallion.
“Living in Harmony” won the Lime Award for Amish Fiction for 2012.

Early Crichton novels to be released as e-books
NEW YORK
Ten early novels that Michael Crichton wrote under pen names while he was in medical school are coming out as e-books.
Open Road Integrated Media announced Thursday that it was releasing the first e-editions of “A Case of Need,” “Odds On” and other suspense thrillers.
Crichton wrote the books while studying at Harvard Medical School in the 1960s under pen names including John Lange, Jeffery Hudson and Michael Douglas.
Open Road CEO Jane Friedman published many of Crichton’s books while she was an executive at Alfred A. Knopf and HarperCollins.
Crichton’s many best-sellers have included “Rising Sun,” “Jurassic Park” and “Disclosure.” He died in 2008 at age 66.
Other novels being released as e-books by Open Road include “Easy Go” and “Zero Cool.”
New Jack Welch book coming next year

The themes of Jack Welch’s next book: clarity and change.
The former General Electric CEO and his wife, Suzy Welch, have a deal with Harper Business for a book to come out in May 2014. The publisher, an imprint of HarperCollins, told The Associated Press recently that the currently untitled book will offer strategies to help business leaders keep focused and keep ahead in a radically transforming economy.
Jack Welch, 77, is best known to readers for his 2001 book, “Jack: Straight from the Gut.” He and Suzy Welch collaborated on “Winning,” published in 2005.
Financial details were not disclosed for the new book, for which the Welches were represented by Washington attorney Robert Barnett. Jack Welch received a reported $7.1 million for “Jack: Straight from the Gut.”
