Brookfield trustee says developers should consider township’s amenities

BROOKFIELD

A Brookfield Township trustee says he believes companies thinking about moving to Trumbull County should consider the township because of its access to highways, Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport and available industrial buildings.

“We really think they should [look at Brookfield Township] because we have more to offer than the others,” Trustee Gary Lees said of other townships near the airport.

Lees said he learned from news accounts that three companies are looking at coming to the county, and one of them would provide about $100 million worth of investment and 100 jobs.

The companies are involved in assembly, manufacturing and general industrial operations, according to one news account.

Locations for the projects and the names of the companies involved have not been released.

Lees sent letters to various government officials, such as Bill Miller with the county planning commission, Rose Ann DeLeon with the Western Reserve Port Authority, and state Rep. Sean O’Brien of Brookfield, D-63rd, for a meeting at 3 p.m. June 10 at the township hall on Strimbu Drive to discuss the township’s assets.

Various developers and banking officials also have been invited to the session to participate in discussions related to industrial development of the township.

Lees also mentions in a press release that airport officials are in discussions with various companies trying to bring an air-cargo company to operate in the former air-cargo building on Ridge Road on the airport’s western edge.

Lees said the township would be a good place to establish a corporate office for such a facility.
