FIREFIGHTERS AWARDS BANQUET Scholarship recipients

Five Youngstown high-school students received $500 scholarships during a dinner Friday at The Regency House in Austintown to honor the Youngstown Association of Black Professional Firefighters’ 20th anniversary. Students, high schools and fields of study:

Quincy Jones Jr., Cardinal Mooney High School. Plans to attend Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa., to study intelligence gathering.

Justice Moore, Chaney High School; Full Sail University in Winter Park, Fla.; computer animation.

Ariel Ruiz III, Ursuline High School; Springfield Technical Community College, Springfield, Mass.; respiratory care and medical training.

Lajuan Thomas, East High School; Youngstown State University; commercial art and graphic design.

Kierra Winford, Mooney; University of Toledo; pharmacy.
