Civil War day camp for kids at museum
YOUNGSTOWN
To mark the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the Mahoning Valley Historical Society will have a Civil War summer day camp for children age 7 to 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Aug. 9 at the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown.
The History Center’s spaces will be transformed into 19th-century locations, including battlefields, Ford’s Theatre and a Council of War room, using media and education technology.
Participants will explore all aspects of the war, from the politics and leaders, to the civilian struggle and military life.

Bus trip will visit Victorian homes

A few seats remain for the Aug. 7 one-day bus tour to the elegant Victorian houses of Erie, Pa., sponsored by the Sutliff Museum.
The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. from the Walmart parking lot off Elm Road in Northeast Warren and will return by 5:30 p.m.
Two historic houses, the Erie County Historical Museum and a trip along Erie’s Millionaires’ Row will be on the itinerary, with lunch at the individual’s choice of several restaurants near the museum.
The cost is $47, which includes transportation, admission fees, tour guides, snacks and bottled water on the bus.

‘Talent’ live coming to State Theater
