Pa. camp director charged with not reporting abuse

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A summer camp director in southeastern Pennsylvania has been charged with failing to report a boy’s claim that he was sexually assaulted by two other campers, a district attorney said today.

An investigation found that the boy told counselors in early July that he was abused by two other campers at Camp Sequoia on the Perkiomen School campus in Pennsburg, Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said in a statement. The counselors told their supervisor, who informed camp director Ryan Wexelblatt, Ferman said.

Wexelblatt interviewed the accused boys and sent them home but failed to tell authorities about the claim as required by state law, Ferman said.

Wexelblatt was arrested Tuesday and will have a preliminary hearing Sept. 12.
