State Sen. Capri Cafaro hopes her Ohio bill will spur Medicaid action
COLUMBUS (AP) — State Sen. Capri Cafaro of Liberty is using a new study to push for expanding the Medicaid program, saying it projects that more people could be covered while saving the state money.
Cafaro highlighted the findings today from an analysis by the Health Policy Institute of Ohio and the John Glenn School of Public Affairs at the Ohio State University.
Cafaro, D-32nd, said there’s been lots of talk about Medicaid expansion but very little action since legislators broke for summer recess. She said it’s time for lawmakers to quit “dancing around” the idea.
Cafaro has introduced a bill that would expand the Medicaid program. But her proposal also aims to transition more people into private insurance. It creates a joint oversight committee to review Medicaid rules and waivers.
