Campbell burglary ends with shots fired

Staff report

CAMPBELL

A city man returning to his Gladstone Street residence on a break from work found that someone had entered his home about 10 a.m. Monday.

After looking around to see what had been stolen, the 35-year-old home- owner discovered that the suspected burglar, 22-year-old Andre Madison of Youngstown, was still in the house.

Madison then fired three shots at the homeowner, who grabbed his gun from underneath his bed and fired back at Madison, according to a police report.

The suspect then jumped out of a second-story window and fled.

Campbell police said Madison later called the Youngstown Police Department, saying he’d been involved in a drive-by shooting.

Madison is charged with aggravated burglary and felonious assault. He is in Mahoning County jail awaiting his arraignment in Campbell Municipal Court.
