Youngstown records its 10th homicide of 2013

A man shot late Saturday evening died early this morning.

William A. McClain, 39, of Lilburne Drive, was found lying on East High Avenue near North Truesdale Avenue about 11 p.m. Saturday. Police said McClain was the victim of a rolling gun battle. There was an SUV that had several bullet holes and shattered glass and several 7.62 mm shell casings were found in the street. That type of ammunition is often used in Russian or Chinese style assault weapons.

McClain was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he died from his wounds today.

The death of McClain is the 10th homicide in the city this year and second within five days. On Thursday, 19-year-old Daniel Watkins was killed after being shot in the driveway of a Loveland Road home.
