Man, 39, injured in East Side shooting
YOUNGSTOWN
A fight involving gunfire on East High Avenue ended with a 39-year-old man being taken to the hospital late Saturday.
After responding to reports of gunshots in the area, police found William A. McClain, of Lilburne Drive, lying face down on the street, just west of North Truesdale Avenue, about 11 p.m. Saturday.
McClain, who was wearing a white jersey with blood on both the front and back, was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Officers also noticed a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee parked sideways on the street, halfway on East High Avenue and halfway on the grass. The SUV’s exterior was marred by several bullet holes, and numerous shell casings were found nearby.
The driver of the SUV identified himself to police, and he was taken to the police department for questioning, as were two other men.
The investigation is ongoing. No one has been arrested, but police have spoken with a few potential witnesses.
