200 protest fracking at Warren rally

WARREN — About 200 protestors from across the state are in attendance at the "Don't Frack Ohio" rally today.

The event is one of northeast Ohio's largest anti-fracking rallies to date, organizers say.

Protesters have gathered at Courthouse Square to oppose the influx of fracking waste injected throughout the region in recent years. Just across the the street, Warren Mayor Doug Franklin spoke in support of the industry. He was joined by members of the business community who say oil gas has created economic opportunities in the Valley that can't be ignored.

During the anti-fracking rally, members of several local unions could be heard blowing air horns to drown out the speakers onstage.
