TCTC fall classes

CHAMPION

The Trumbull Career and Technical Center Adult Training Center is accepting students for fall classes. Those interested in auto, information technology, industrial and medical training may be eligible for financial aid.

Canfield power outage

Power was out for about two hours Saturday morning after a transformer exploded at an Ohio Edison substation at Indian Lake.

The outage knocked out several traffic lights in the city, and motorists were urged to use caution until power was restored.

Power was lost about 9:30 a.m. and was restored about an hour later.

41 OVI stops

CANFIELD

Members of the Mahoning Valley OVI Task Force patrolled U.S. 224 between 11 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday looking for impaired drivers.

The seven officers made 41 traffic stops, yielding one OVI arrest, two summonses for driving under suspension and a citation for drug abuse of marijuana. That person refused to stop when officers tried to pull him over and also was charged with felony fleeing and eluding, according to a news release from the task force.

More patrol-type operations by the task force are planned for the future, the release said.

5K Race/Walk

WARREN

The first Rallying for Recovery 5K Race/Walk and educational event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 21 at Courthouse Square.

The race/walk begins at 9 a.m. with registration starting at 7:30 a.m.

It will feature speakers, educational materials and entertainment regarding addiction and is sponsored by the Alliance for Awareness, ASAP Opiate Task Force and Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force.
