Mr., Mrs. Scott observe their 50th anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN

Mr. and Mrs. George D. Scott Sr. of Youngstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 26.

Mr. Scott and the former Verda L. Metzler were married on that date in 1963 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Boardman.

The couple have three children: George D. Scott Jr. of Warren, Carole Sharp of Austintown and Jeffrey Scott of Youngstown; and three grandchildren: Amanda Scott, Brandon Sharp and Corey Sharp.

The Scotts are members of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman.

Mrs. Scott, an enrolled agent, which is the highest credential the IRS awards, served as president of Scott’s Tax Time Inc. in Boardman for 44 years before retiring in 2012. She is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents, Ohio State Society of Enrolled Agents and the National Association of Tax Practitioners.

Mr. Scott retired in 1998 from General Motors in Lordstown. He is a member of the choir at their church. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1960 to 1964 and in the Coast Guard Reserve from 1964 to 1966. Mr. Scott also was a volunteer fireman in Struthers and Boardman for 18 years.
