Dantonio finds Twitter useful

Since Mark Dantonio joined Twitter in February, he has gained more than 11,000 followers, reached out to some recruits and fired off some pro-Michigan State tweets.

“I’ve really got on Twitter because of recruiting, so I can direct-message people, and (it’s) a way of sort of communicating with a recruit,” the MSU football coach said last week. “And even that is sporadic sometimes. But I don’t know, it’s always good to, I can get my message out.”

One thing Dantonio hasn’t done much is interact with people other than recruits and MSU colleagues on Twitter. He leaves his mentions mostly alone.

“I very rarely go into that area and see what people are saying,” he said. “There’s some haters out there.”

Dantonio is a former Youngstown State and Ohio State defensive coordinator under Jim Tressel.
