First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will host the Rev. Damian J. Ference on Thursday. He is an instructor in the philosophy department at Borromeo Seminary, Diocese of Cleveland. His topic will be “John Paul II’s Theology of the Body.”

Praise in song

Members of Grace Church of the Nazarene, 5253 W. Webb Road, will gather at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 4 for a “praise in song” event.
The congregation urges other churches to do the same to praise God.
Grace Church members also ask other churches to sing “How Great Thou Art” and ring bells or carillons at 3 p.m. as part of the worship.
Biblical dance

The Bride of Christ Worship Team will host an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. today at 715 E. Midlothian Blvd. Suite 3, for the Kingdomites Biblical Dance Academy.
Debra Ingram, director of the worship team, is dean of the academy. The academy will focus on dance from a biblical perspective.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 78 E. Liberty St., will host a community worship concert at 5 p.m. Sunday featuring Door3Twenty.
A potluck dinner also is planned. A free-will offering will go the band.

Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 320 Elk St., will host an “appreciation musical” for Michael Jennings, minister of music, at 3 p.m. today. He has served for five years.

The Rev. Woody Woodson will speak at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 4 and 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at Miracle Valley Church, 2119 Valley View Road. A nursery and children’s church will be provided for 3-month-olds to 12-year-olds.
Male chorus day

Beulah Baptist Church, 570 Sherwood Ave., will host a male chorus day, “Soldiers of Unity,” at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Participants will include various male singers and groups from Youngstown, Warren and Campbell.
Special worship

The Rev. Brian K. Johnson Sr. will be guest speaker and his congregation from New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Sharon, Pa., will be guests at Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 2821 Hillman St., at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The worship event is a prelude to the 44th anniversary of the church.
Ecumenical service

An ecumenical service is planned at 7 p.m. Aug. 4 at Poland Village Gazebo, across from Poland Library.
Participating churches are Poland Presbyterian, Poland United Methodist, Heritage Presbyterian, Prince of Peace Lutheran, Church of the Rock and Holy Family.
Those attending should take lawn chairs or blankets.
Refreshments will be served.
Music revival

David Johnson Ministries will conduct a music revival at 7 p.m. Aug. 22-24 at the middle school, 10331 U.S. Route 6. There will be Gospel music. The event is free.
