Staff report

WARREN

A phenomenon that first came to light Tuesday has turned into a serious threat for entities that own a fleet of vehicles.

On Thursday, two Warren organizations reported having a large number of batteries stolen out of their vehicles overnight.

That follows a Tuesday report from the city of Warren’s Sanitation Department indicating that two batteries valued at $260 had been taken from two garbage trucks inside a fenced area at the department’s parking area at 613 Main St .SW.

Trumbull Community Action Program reported Thursday that 21 batteries and some battery cables worth $2,025 were taken from 21 buses from its fenced parking area next door at 614 Main St. SW.

Community Bus Services, 1976 Niles Road SE, also reported having batteries taken from eight buses. The value of those was $760, the company reported.
