New Canfield concession stand to be built

CANFIELD

In a 4-1 vote, the Canfield Board of Education approved construction of a new concession stand that is being donated by John Annichenni, owner of American Contracting Inc.

Annichenni, a parent of Canfield students, wanted to build a new facility at the high school stadium for the cost of $50,000 to $65,000 because, to him, the “facility needed to be improved.”

The board had to make a decision on allowing Annichenni to build and for the Gridiron Club to operate the concession stand with the Canfield Band Boosters in mind.

The district had a contract with the band to let them operate the concessions for funding band initiatives.

“It took some negotiating with the band to make sure everyone was comfortable,” Annichenni told board members Thursday.

Money received from the concessions still will go to the band as well as the Gridiron Club and possibly other district organizations.

The new stand will be three times the size of the current one, Annichenni said. It will take three weeks to build, but the design must be approved by the city as well as the board.

“I am excited to be able to generate funds for the programs,” Annichenni said.
