Poland Idol sought out the best singers in four age categories June 29 during Celebrate Poland.
The sixth annual competition challenged contestants in five different areas: pitch, style, phrasing, diction and presentation. The contest was judged by three music professional judges: Liz Rubino, Victoria Auth and Elaine Carlson.
Cynthia Best, event organizer, said it was important to use music professionals as judges.
“I want this to be a true singing and learning experience, thats why I use music professionals,” said Best.
Prizes were awarded to first, second and third place winners. First place winners walked away $100 worth of prizes, including a recording session. Second and third place winners were awarded $50 and $25 worth of prizes, respectively.
Winners in each of the age groups were: Adrianna Quinlan of Boardman (kindergarten through fourth grade), Brianna Clinton of Austintown (grades 5-8), Maggie Schaefer of Poland (high school) and Candace Campana (adult).
Best said that Poland Idol is a success every year.
“We’ll continue to do it as long as people come,” said Best.
