Man indicted for Campbell shootings

A Mahoning County grand jury on Thursday indicted a man Campbell police say shot four people at a 7th Street home Saturday as well as himself before trying to burn it down.

Devin N. Spann, 24, faces four counts of felonious assault with firearm specifications and eight counts of aggravated arson. He remains in St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Spann is accused of shooting Roland Avis, 62; Mary Lynette Spann, 43; and Carmen Figueroa, 24, in their upper torsos. Gerald Robinson, 29, was shot in the forearm. The women are also at St. Elizabeth’s.

Police said Spann had been hinting for several days he wanted to kill everyone inside the house, and he also set a mattress on fire.

At the time of the shooting and fire, there were three children, ages 3, 6 and 8, inside the home, but they were not injured. They were crying over the victims when they were found, reports said.

Spann, who police said also shot himself, was arrested on a nearby street as he was walking away by one of the officers who was called to the scene.

The grand jury also returned indictments against these people on these charges. They will arraigned Aug. 6 in common pleas court:

Dana Jokela, 36, Akron-Canfield Road, Canfield, felonious assault, kidnapping, aggravated robbery and attempted murder.

Aundrey J. Fields, also known as Aundre Fields, 28, Roxbury Avenue, superseding indictment, three counts of trafficking in cocaine, two counts of possession of cocaine, illegal possession of weapons, and defacing identification marks of a firearm with a forfeiture specification.

Frankie Torres, 25, Helena Avenue, illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto grounds of a specified governmental facility and possession of heroin with a forfeiture specification.

Brian D. Bees Jr., 28, South Raccoon Road, Austintown, breaking and entering.

Robert T. Hutchko, 27, Westchester Drive, Austintown, breaking and entering.

Michael C. Mele, 26, Wingate Road, Poland, forgery and receiving stolen property.

Maurice Brooks, 26, Compton Lane, two counts of possession of heroin with forfeiture specifications.

Barry Hutchins, 25, Elm Street, two counts of possession of heroin with forfeiture specifications.

Leontre Floyd, 38, East Evergreen Avenue, possession of cocaine and possession of drugs.

Korey A. Koran, 22, Grover Drive, Boardman, failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.

Denver N. Stonestreet, 23, Meadowood Place, Salem, two counts of theft.

James A. Fisher, 44, Rush Boulevard, possession of cocaine.

David A. Pope, 25, Gladstone Avenue, possession of heroin with a forfeiture specification.

Roberta A. Robinson, 30, East Auburndale Avenue, receiving stolen property.

Alvin Tucker Jr., 27, Euclid Avenue, burglary.

Donald Blackmon, 58, McHenry Street, possession of cocaine.

Shantae Findley, 25, New York Avenue, felonious assault.
