Benefit dinner supports injured teen

NEW BEDFORD, Pa.

A benefit bingo event is open to the public from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday for 18-year-old Sarah Marich, who was injured in a serious car accident July 6 in New Castle, Pa.

Marich, daughter of Bruce and Diane of Enon Valley, Pa., suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident at U.S. Route 422 and Old Youngstown Road. Marich was driving to her friend’s high-school graduation party when her vehicle was hit on the passenger side. She had just graduated in June from Mohawk High School and planned on studying pre-medicine at Kent State University in the fall.

Proceeds from the event will go toward Marich’s medical expenses. Her friends have created the Supporting Sarah Marich group to raise awareness of Marich’s accident and to raise funds for her.

Marich will be transferred soon to the Children’s Institute in Pittsburgh for intensive therapy and rehabilitation. She suffered multiple injuries from a broken rib to blood in her lungs and skull fractures, which left her in the intensive care unit at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

The benefit will be at the Country Manor Bingo Hall on U.S. Route 422 in New Bedford.
