The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. is having a Randall Park Neighborhood community work day from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday during which several vacant homes will be cleaned up, boarded and secured.

Self-defense classes

YOUNGSTOWN

The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane, will offer Krav Maga self-defense classes at 7:30 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday in August.

Krav Maga is an eclectic self-defense system developed in Israel that involves karate, boxing, kick boxing, jujutsu and grappling techniques.

A certified instructor will lead participants through exercises and scenarios to build skills as well as confidence and self-esteem. The classes are open to anyone older than 13.

Krav Maga will be offered in August twice weekly for a total of eight classes. Cost is $40 for JCC members and $60 for nonmembers.

Applicants sought

WARREN

The Trumbull County District Advisory Council is accepting applications to fill the unexpired term of Trumbull County Board of Health member Dr. Pat C. DiTommaso, who left before the end of his term that expires March 2015.

The advisory council requires all interested parties to fill out a nomination petition, which can be obtained from the health department office, 176 Chestnut Street NE, or its website at www.tcbh.org.

To be a candidate, a person must be a licensed physician, U.S. citizen and a registered voter residing in the health district. Residents of Warren, Girard and Niles are not eligible.

Traffic delays

WEST POINT

The Ohio Department of Transportation warns that motorists may experience traffic delays on state Route 518 between Gavers and West Point in Columbiana County from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday as part of the region’s 150th anniversary and re-enactment of Morgan’s Raid.

Event organizers expect heavy traffic between state Routes 164 and 518 in the afternoon during a re-enactment of the surrender at the historic rock area on state Route 518.

ODOT is advising motorists to use caution through this area and to use an alternate route to avoid delays.

Car show Sunday

HARTFORD

Nash Timko will host a car show and cruise-in from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at state Routes 7 and 305 as part of his Eagle Scout project. The registration fee is $10 and will be used to fund Timko’s project: building a Trophy Case for Badger Elementary School. The first 50 cars will receive dash plaques. Scout Masters’ choice, Boy Scouts’ choice and Eagle Scouts’ choice trophies will be awarded. Also included are a 50/50 drawing, music and entertainment. Food will be available for purchase.
