YOUNGSTOWN
National recording artist Juicy J will headline an outdoor hip-hop concert Saturday night on East Federal Street, between Market and Walnut streets, downtown.
Opening acts for the event, dubbed 2Deep Summer Jam, will be local rappers Sauce, Mood, Ace 500, Cash, King Ralph and Yung Monsta. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7.
Advance tickets are $20 and are available at 2deepevents.com. VIP tickets also are available for $40.
It’s an all-ages show and will take place rain or shine. For information, call 330-397-7567.
Summer Jam will include food vendors and a beer tent for those 21 and over.
It is being promoted by Terrill Vidale of Youngstown, who staged concerts in Ohio by Machine Gun Kelly and Wale earlier this year.
As part of Three 6 Mafia, Juicy J earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” from the 2005 film “Hustle and Flow.” His subsequent solo career has yielded hits including “Show Out” (featuring Big Sean and Young Jeezy).
Juicy J (aka, Jordan Houston) has sold more than 20 million records over the past 20 years and is the first rap artist to win an Academy Award.
He made his presence known again last summer with the strip-club anthem “Bandz a Make Her Dance” [featuring Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz].
“I was just trying to make a good song that would fly all over the place,” said Juicy J in an interview with The Vindicator last October. “And people caught on to it like crazy.”
