Feds keep northwest Ohio flood plan afloat

FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — Officials in northwest Ohio who are pushing for the completion of a flood-control study got a lot less money than they wanted from the federal government.

But they say it’s still enough to keep the project going forward.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said this past week that it will contribute $20,000 to the flood-control study of the Blanchard River area.

Officials in Findlay were looking for $1.5 million. They say getting even a small amount of money keeps the project in line to receive more funding in the next federal budget.

Five major floods have hit the area along the Blanchard River since 2007, causing millions of dollars in damage in Findlay and Ottawa.
