Woman sentenced for assault with car

WARREN

Shawnda L. Worthy, 24, of Jackson Street Southwest, was sentenced to five years probation on one count of aggravated assault for an incident in May 2012 in which she drove her car into a crowd of women on Hamilton Street Southwest, injuring them.

Worthy received her sentence Wednesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

Judge W. Wyatt MccKay ordered Worthy to attend anger-management classes, write an apology to Lavia Broadenax and have no contact with her. Broadenax was hospitalized as a result of her injuries.

Police said Worthy and Broadenax argued over a man before Worthy injured the women. Worthy was indicted on five counts of felonious assault but accepted a plea agreement calling for greatly reduced charges.
