Trumbull County commissioners approved another road use and maintenance agreement for the drilling of a horizontal well using hydraulic fracturing — this one in the southeast corner of Lordstown along the Mahoning County line.
The agreement calls for Halcon Resources of Houston to make road repairs and upgrades to Hallock-Young Road, Highland Avenue, and Yerke Young Road after drilling of the well is complete this fall.
Those are the roads that will be used by vehicles working at the site, said Jack Simon, road use and maintenance agreement coordinator for Trumbull County.
The well is likely to be drilled sometime early this fall, perhaps September, on Yerke Young Road near the intersection with Austintown Warren Road, Simon said.
Halcon apparently will begin work on the Yerke Young well after it completes the drilling of another leg on the Kibler well on Brunstetter Road in Lordstown and after it drills its well on Layer Road in Warren Township close to Kibler Toot Road.
The well pad for the Layer Road well has already been constructed, Simon said.
Commissioners also approved permits requested by Halcon for work being done in two places on Hayes-Orangeville Road in Hartford Township and in one place on nearby Orangeville Kinsman Road for installation of gas and oil pipelines.
The lines will carry gas and oil from Halcon’s Brugler well on Hayes-Orangeville Road to an existing Dominion East Ohio pipeline.
Another permit is for pipeline installation on Brunstetter Road near the Halcon well there.
Commissioners also approved a permit for a pipeline installation by Dominion East Ohio Gas on Niles Carver Road in Weathersfield Township. Dominion permits are usually related to drilling activities by BP America, Simon said.
