Struthers hires new full-time officer
Staff report
STRUTHERS
Michael Trolio never wanted a job that involved sitting in an office all day.
On Tuesday morning, Trolio, a 1992 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, was sworn in as the police department’s 10th full-time patrolman. His first official day is today.
“I like to be hands-on,” Trolio, 39, said. “I like actually making arrests, being part of a team and working as a unit.”
Trolio has worked part time for the Struthers Police Department for the past 14 years, and also has been a full-time officer for the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center, specializing in juvenile investigations, source development and violent-crime offenders on Youngstown’s South Side.
But Trolio is especially looking forward to working with “the unique group of individuals” in Struthers, which he called “a very close-knit community.”
Chief Tim Roddy said Trolio’s transition in the department, from part time to full time, will be seamless, adding that he has “a wealth of knowledge and will contribute greatly.”
“He knows the job. He knows the city,” Roddy said.
