The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-car accident at the corner of Paulin Road and South Avenue that injured several people and sent one to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman.

Passengers from one of the vehicles were visibly shaken at the scene, just after 10 a.m. Wednesday. No one, however, was believed to be seriously hurt.

Michelle Wade, 30, of Youngstown was taken to St. Elizabeth in Boardman with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to a news release.

Wade, driving a 1999 Buick Century, was stopped southbound on South Avenue attempting to turn left onto Paulin Road when she was struck from behind by a 2006 Ford Taurus driven by Nancy Drabick, 59, of New Brighton, Pa, which caused Wade to move left of center.

That’s when a 2005 Ford Freestyle traveling northbound on South Avenue and driven by Paul Barnes, 82, of Lisbon struck Wade, which caused his vehicle to turn 180 degrees into the southbound lane, the release said.

Karen McElroy, the trooper investigating the accident, said Drabick would most likely be cited.

Michael Mizenko was on his way home from work when his tire went flat. He pulled over on the side of the road near the intersection and waited for a family member to bring a new tire when the crash occurred.

There “was a lot of noise, a lot of confusion,” Mizenko said. “I thought for sure ... I already blew a tire today. What else can happen? There was a lot of people here fairly quick.”
