3 enter guilty pleas to drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN — Three men entered guilty pleas this week in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court in two different drug-trafficking cases.

Leonard C. Rogers, 27, of Woodbine Avenue, Struthers, pleaded guilty Monday before Judge Lou D’Apolito to three counts of trafficking in heroin with forfeiture specifications.

The maximum sentence for the charges is three years. Prosecutors are recommending an 18-month prison sentence.

His plea headed off a trial that was to begin Monday. Sentencing is set for Sept. 18.

Two other men pleaded guilty Tuesday before Judge John M. Durkin, both of them for two counts of trafficking in marijuana and attempting to engage in a pattern of corrupt activity.

The men are Devin Rutland, 25, of Fincastle Lane, and Charles Dorsett, 36, of Marmion Avenue. They also will be sentenced Sept. 18.
