DOCTORS

Research at clinic

Dana (Frank) Schneeberger has received her doctorate in regulatory biology with a specialization in cellular and molecular medicine from Cleveland State University. She is the daughter of James and Janice Frank of Boardman.

Dr. Schneeberger is a 2002 graduate of Boardman High School and graduated magna cum laude in 2006 from John Carroll University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology/neuroscience.

Dr. Schneeberger has accepted a postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at the Cleveland Clinic, where she will be working under the chairman of the pediatrics institute, Dr. Giovanni Piedimonte. She will be conducting both basic science and clinical research on conditions such as respiratory syncytial virus and cystic fibrosis.

HONORS

Awards for journalist

Chelsea Miller, formerly of Trumbull County, has been awarded a first-place Ohio Associated Press award in enterprise journalism and the Press Club of Cleveland’s Ohio Excellence in Journalism third-place award in investigative reporting.

Miller graduated from Brookfield High School in 2007 and Youngstown State University in fall 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She is a newspaper reporter at The Chronicle Telegram in Elyria.

Lawyers

Fitch grad advances

Samantha Elizabeth Pyatt, daughter of Glenn and Elizabeth Pyatt of Austintown, recently graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law with a juris doctor degree.

She will test for the Ohio State Bar Examination starting Wednesday in Columbus.

Pyatt is a 2005 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in justice studies with a minor in pre-law from Kent State University.

Notre Dame graduate

Brittany Nicole Brantley of Youngstown received her juris doctor degree in May from Notre Dame Law School in South Bend, Ind.

While at Notre Dame, Brantley received the CALI award for excellence in comparative law and her student note was published by the Journal of Legislation. She also was awarded a merit-based scholarship.

Brantley is the daughter of Gary and Lynn Brantley, and the granddaughter of Corrine and the late Clarence Brantley, and the late William and Ernestine Wagner. All are of Youngstown.

She was valedictorian of Chaney High School in 2006 and graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a bachelor’s degree in arts from the University of Cincinnati in 2009.

Brantley has accepted a position in the litigation department with a Cleveland law firm.
