Dylan C. Crump, 21, of Berlin Center, died in a single-car accident on South East River Road just south of Palmyra Road at 12:54 a.m. Saturday. Crump was northbound on South East River in a 2008 Honda Civic when he drove off the left side of the road, striking several trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol sent a crash reconstructionist to the scene to assist with the investigation.

Collapsed at YPD

YOUNGSTOWN

A 39-year-old man ran into the Youngstown Police Department at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, then collapsed on the floor in front of the security guard working at the door, saying he’d been shot. Paramedics and police officers arrived shortly afterward, learning from the man that a silver Mitsubishi was involved in the shooting. The man had a gunshot wound to his upper back and was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. He said he ran to the police department from the Market Street Bridge, but it wasn’t apparent whether the shooting took place there or not.

Unwanted phones

NEW Castle, Pa.

The Crisis Center of Lawrence County, 1218 W. State St., is asking for unwanted cell phones for victims to use to reach 911 in emergency situations and as a continuing fundraiser to benefit the shelter. In addition, the shelter is accepting used iPads and iPods for recycling. As the only domestic violence and sexual assault agency in Lawrence County, the shelter fosters a care network committed to comprehensive victim services and a coordinated community response to violence and abuse. Truck tips in ditch

LIBERTY

A 24-foot box truck trying to pull to the side of the road for emergency vehicles found itself nearly tipped over in the ditch along state Route 304 near Belmont Pines Hospital Saturday afternoon. The truck called for help at 12:20 p.m., and authorities called out a big tow truck to get the vehicle upright because of its size.

The Arthritis Foundation will have “Breaking the Pain Chain” sessions on four consecutive Thursdays starting Aug. 1. They will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital, 1350 E.
