Complaints on job retaliation to be taken
YOUNGSTOWN
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s mobile outreach center visits the Youngstown unit of the NAACP on Friday to accept complaints of employment discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 and older), disability or retaliation.
The EEOC considers retaliation the firing of a worker who complained about job discrimination, gave evidence in a job discrimination matter or filed a charge of job discrimination with the commission.
The unit prefers appointments, but walk-ins are welcome. The local unit of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is at 16 Wick Ave., Suite 721, in the old PNC Bank Building, downtown.
Call the local office at 330-782-9777, or email naacpyoungstown@yahoo.com.

Casino may need to expand to keep up
CLEVELAND
The Horseshoe Casino in downtown Cleveland may have to expand to keep pace with a glitzy new competitor that is preparing to burst into the market, says the publisher of an industry magazine.
The casino’s so-called Phase 2, in the planning stages for several years, would overlook the Cuyahoga River and have stores and restaurants emptying onto the street. Roger Gros, publisher of Global Gaming Business magazine, said U.S. casinos need extras like those with wider appeal to survive what has become a glut of competition.
The expansion, Gros said, would help counter the draw of a star-powered gaming and entertainment complex that will open in December at the suburban Northfield Park harness racing track. Hard Rock International will manage the $265 million development for track owner Brock Milstein.
The Northfield Park Rocksino will crack the regional monopoly now enjoyed by Dan Gilbert’s Rock Ohio Caesars, a partnership with Caesars Entertainment.
