A 20-year-old North Truesdale man who skipped a May sentencing date had three more years added to his recommended sentence this morning by Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge Maureen Sweeney, who sentenced him to seven years.

Talawrence Brooks was to be sentenced May 15 after pleading guilty in March to a charge of aggravated robbery for a robbery behind a Souoth Avenue bar in April of 2012 in which a man was shot. Prosecutors were recommending a four-year prison sentence at the time.

However, Brooks skipped out on his sentencing and a bench warrant was issued. He was arrested and was in court Friday.

A juvenile was also involved in the robbery, in which a man was shot. His case is being handled in juvenile court.
