Youngstown police arrest two for drug possession

Police made two drug arrests in two different parts of town Wednesday.

Police arrested William Porter, 45, at 5:10 p.m. and charged him with possession of drugs and possession of drugs marijuana after he was found with 35 Vicodin pills and a small bag of suspected marijuana when he was seen by officers getting into a car belonging to an East Palestine man in front of 860 Plazaview Court on the East Side.

Earlier in the day, about 9:15 a.m., police pulled over a car driven by Marco Hammond Jr., 26, of Youngstown, for speeding and an improper lane change at the Wick Avenue exit of U.S. Route 422.

After a search of the vehicle, police found 10 bags of suspected marijuana inside the car and an additional two in the purse of a female passenger. Hammond was arrested on charges of drug abuse and drug abuse possession. The woman was named in arrest reports, but it was not clear if she was cited, charged or taken into custody.
