Pasture walk planned at Truitt farm

A pasture walk is planned for 6 p.m. next Thursday at the farm of Ron Truitt, 10281 Stratton Road.

Ron and Sue Truitt own and operate a 50-acre beef farm in Mahoning County with help from their grandsons, Phillip and Shae.

The Truitt family has been using rotational grazing for the past 10 years, and they also stockpile grass for winter feed.

Guests to the pasture walk will discuss forage testing and review forage sample results, as well as watch a tire tank installation demonstration.

Participants are encouraged to visit with the members of the Eastern Ohio Grazing Council, Soil and Water Conservation District and National Resources Conservation Service who will be in attendance at the social and educational event.

Take lawn chairs.

Refreshments will be provided.

The event is sponsored by Circle L Fence Ltd. and Witmer’s Feed and Grain Inc.

Registration for the event is requested by Tuesday.

Upcoming pasture walks will include the farm of Cliff Miller of Carrollton, Carroll County, on Aug. 22 and the farm of Harold Campbell of Diamond, Mahoning County, on Sept. 26.

The pasture walks are presented by the Eastern Ohio Grazing Council in cooperation with the Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson and Mahoning soil and water conservation districts and the National Resources Conservation Service.
