Kasich discusses state budget at SW Ohio stop

BATAVIA, Ohio (AP) — Gov. John Kasich planned to stop today in a Republican friendly part of Ohio to discuss the state budget as he begins a summer tour on the spending plan.

The GOP governor was to speak at a Batavia business and meet with several southwest Ohio chapters of the Chamber of Commerce.

Kasich’s office says he plans to make stops around the state this summer to talk about proposals in the $62 billion, two-year budget that began July 1.

The plan provides small businesses with a 50 percent tax cut on the first $250,000 in net business income. It also reduces the statewide income-tax rate gradually over three years, beginning with an 8.5 percent tax in 2013 and moving to a 10 percent tax reduction by 2015.
