Ohio boy dies after becoming wedged amid furniture

LEBANON, Ohio (AP) — A 5-year-old boy with cerebral palsy has died after becoming wedged between furniture, causing him to suffocate while playing at his southwest Ohio home.

Authorities say Christian Shelton died Monday after he became wedged between a couch and a chair that had been pushed into a reclining position while he and his brother were playing at their Hamilton Township home. A Warren County coroner’s investigator says the twin tried to save his brother but couldn’t get the chair to go forward. The twin also has cerebral palsy.

The boy’s father tried to resuscitate his son who was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that family members considered the boys miracle babies because they survived being born at 23 weeks with cerebral palsy.
