v Savoy Big Band with Peggy Coyle, 6 to 8 p.m.: Big-band swing music at Waterworth Memorial Park, 866 Sunset Blvd., Salem.

“Dexter” (9 p.m., Showtime): The final season of “Dexter” continues as our troubled serial killer (Michael C. Hall) searches for the Brain Surgeon. Meanwhile, Vogel (Charlotte Rampling) tries to convince Dexter that being a psychopath is perfectly OK. Good luck with that.

“The Newsroom” (10 p.m., HBO): Brace yourself for more gale-force blasts of Aaron Sorkin banter. Yes, “The Newsroom” is back for Season 2, with its noble, idealistic — and very verbose — band of TV journalists. Just try your best to keep up.
