Staff report
BOARDMAN
The Mill Creek Park Golf Course Practice Range is scheduled to open Wednesday as a part of a grand opening celebration at 10 a.m.
Dennis Miller, Mill Creek MetroParks executive director, and Brian Huntley, golf course architect, plan to open the ceremony with remarks about the range and the donors who made it happen. It has been under construction since spring 2012, including tree removal and other earth work.
The park is accepting donations for the practice range and the next phase of the project, the Learning Center building. Anyone interested in naming opportunities for both facilities can contact Miller or Linda Kostka, development and marketing director, at 330-702-3000.
The golf course was designed by well-known golf course architect Donald Ross in 1928 and features two 18-hole championship courses with more than 100 bunkers. The Field House was built in 1929 and has a pro shop and restaurant.
