Streetscapes hosted Chalk-It-Up June 29 on the sidewalks surrounding Village Hall during Celebrate Poland.

Jim Comport, Celebrate Poland trustee, talked about the inception of the sidewalk contest.

“The idea for Chalk-it-up-for-Poland came from noted local artist Tom Antonishak in spring of 2008 while he and other members of Town One Streetscapes of Poland were planning to extend the Celebrate Poland event into Saturday,” said Comport. “The chalk on sidewalk was thought to be something fun that would bring out the community to help kick off the planned Saturday events; and so it was. It has become very popular and anticipated since then.”

Judging the event this year was Rachel Murray, Terry Wittenauer and Lee Ann Heltzel.
