The newly opened Mahoning Valley Birth Center, 3622 Belmont Ave., Suite 21, behind McDonalds Restaurant, is having an open house for physicians at 11 a.m. and the general public from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday

Visitors will be able to tour facility and its birth suites and meet staff members, said owner Rachel Sieman of Boardman, a certified nurse-midwife. The first baby was delivered at the birth center on June 28.

Sieman graduated in 1994 from Youngstown State University with a bachelor degree in nursing, attended Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, and received a master’s degree in nursing from Case Western Reserve University.

Affiliated with Progressive Women’s Care in Boardman, Sieman has worked as a nurse at Sharon Regional Health System and St. Elizabeth Health Center.
