Pa. man sentenced

PITTSBURGH

A federal judge has sentenced a 56-year-old Enon Valley, Pa., man to 19 years and seven months in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, after he pleaded guilty to receipt of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor. Patrick Joseph Kofalt. of Moravia Road, drew the sentence Tuesday from U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer.

On Dec. 2, 2009, Kofalt received, possessed and accessed material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, the U.S. Attorney said. Disclosures by a 6-year-old in 2009 prompted the seizure of more than 1,000 child- pornography images, which Kofalt encrypted and saved in computer files, according to Assistant U.S. Atty. Soo C. Song, who prosecuted the case. Law enforcement later identified three additional sexual-assault victims of Kofalt, the U.S. attorney said.

Taken from home

BOARDMAN

Prescription pills, a handgun and money were taken from a Boardman woman’s home. The woman told police it occurred between June 10 and 28. She didn’t report it until Tuesday because she couldn’t prove who did it, and she was embarrassed, according to a report. She believes a female associated with a recovering drug addict, whom she had been helping, is responsible for stealing about 100 Vicodin pills, $50 in change and a Smith and Wesson handgun.
