Authorities: Toss cheese products

COLUMBUS

The Ohio Department Health urges consumers who purchased specialty cheese products linked to a multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infection (listeriosis) to dispose of them. The suspected products are Les Fr ®res, Petit Fr ®re and Petit Fr ®re with truffles made by Wisconsin’s Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese Co.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as of July 3, five people infected with the same strain had been identified in four Midwestern states, including Ohio. There are no deaths in Ohio, but a 52-year-old Cuyahoga County woman was hospitalized. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions.

Farm to Fork Dinner

CANFIELD

The second annual Farm to Fork Dinner, presented by Covelli Enterprises to benefit the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, is at 5 p.m. July 28 at White House Fruit Farm on state Route 62, just south of Canfield near the intersection of Western Reserve Road.

The menu includes locally grown and produced dinner and desserts from White House Fruit Farm and other local suppliers prepared by chefs Ross Scianna and Devlin Dunn of Antone’s Banquet Centre.

The event also includes private shopping in the White House farm market, wagon tours of the farm and orchard and musical entertainment by the Jack Ciarniello. Tickets are $100 per person and seating is limited to 100. Call Tara Mady of the United Way at 330-746-8494.

Tour to close streets

Youngstown

The Tour of the Valley will close the following streets from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday: Federal Street and North Walnut Street to Symphony Way, including the westbound closure of Federal between Phelps and Hazel Streets; Symphony Way from Federal Street to West Commerce Street; and Commerce Street from Symphony Way to North Walnut Street.
