Woman sneaks out after being beaten
youngstown
A West Cohasset Avenue man is in the Mahoning County jail after police say he severely beat a woman early Friday.
Police were called to St. Elizabeth Health Center at about 4:30 a.m., where a woman covered in bruises told them Troy Matthew Emmert, 48, was upset at her, blaming her for being forced to leave a gathering on Thursday.
The woman said Emmert punched, kicked her, knocked her down and forced her to strip and then beat her with a baseball bat until she passed out. When she woke up, Emmert was asleep and she snuck out and drove herself to the hospital.
Police then went to Emmert’s home and found him asleep on his couch, naked, and the floors were covered in blood, reports said. Police also found a baseball bat covered in blood.
Jail records show Emmert is there with no bond until his pretrial hearing.
