Tall ships make voyage to Cleveland

CLEVELAND
A dozen historic war ships are sailing into the Port of Cleveland this week as the city revives its Tall Ships Festival.
During the festival from Wednesday to Sunday, the ships are providing a glimpse at the kind of wooden sailing vessels used to win the War of 1812. It’s the first gathering of the replica ships in Cleveland since 2010.
The Plain Dealer reported that 100,000 people were expected to turn out for the festival, which offers ship tours, cruises on some of the vessels, dockside exhibits, food and entertainment.
Later this summer, the ships will help re-enact the Battle of Lake Erie, which took place 200 years ago and ensured control of the lake for the U.S. for the remainder of the war.
