A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

June 24

Theft/criminal mischief: Someone stole a garage-door opener and damaged a vehicle in the 8400 block of Chesterton Drive.

June 26

Harassment: A Center Road woman said a family member has been harassing her.

June 28

Litter: Someone deposited trash in the 2400 block of Knollwood Avenue.

BOARDMAN

June 28

Theft: Mia J. Johnson, 23, was taken into custody near South Avenue and charged. Johnson, of 2509 Rosewood Ave., Youngstown, was accused of taking a bar of soap, a box of laundry detergent, toothpaste and other items from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.

Theft: Darrell A. Bembry, 29, of 6110 Market St., Boardman, was picked up on a warrant. He was accused of stealing a bottle of vodka from Anzevino’s Sparkle Market, 6315 Market St.

Attempted theft: A man entered a car in the 5000 block of Friendship Avenue, but nothing was missing.

Attempted auto theft: Someone in the 5900 block of Glenwood Avenue broke into a 1999 Mercury vehicle, damaging the rubber sealing around a door, apparently in an effort to steal the car.

Theft: About $5,925 worth of jewelry was taken from a home in the 1800 block of Wingate Road.

Breaking and entering: A $400 pressure washer and a $300 leaf blower were removed from a shed in the 700 block of Crestview Drive.

Recovered property: A man and a woman were to be arrested after police found in Youngstown a 2000 Volkswagen Beetle that had been stolen from a Sierra Madre Trail woman.

Menacing: An elderly Boardman Boulevard woman said a neighbor continually harasses her.

Harassment: A Mill Creek Drive woman reported receiving a series of such calls and text messages.

Theft: Someone stole a $5 pair of shoes from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

June 29

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road resulted in 26-year-old David C. Ferrell’s arrest. Ferrell, of 937 E. Dewey Ave., Youngstown, was wanted on warrants accusing him of failing to appear in court on a charge of driving under suspension and regarding a loud-noise complaint.

Theft: A man stole three bags of dog food from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Menacing: A Maple Drive woman told police a man in a maroon vehicle has driven by her residence and taken pictures of her children without permission.

Criminal damaging: A man in the 400 block of Indianola Road noticed puncture marks in two of his vehicle’s tires.

Theft: A $300 tarpaulin was removed from a truck in the 400 block of Wildwood Drive.

Theft: A Steubenville woman at a Market Street motel reported her wallet and a Xanex prescription missing.

Auto theft: An employee with Enterprise Rent-a-Car, 7880 Market St., told police a woman rented but never returned a 2013 Ford Focus.

Drugs: After being stopped on Market Street, Brandon L. Clinkscale of 430 W. Evergreen Ave., Youngstown, faced a felony drug-possession charge when, officers said, two pills were found. The 21-year-old man also was charged with failure to comply with police, a misdemeanor, after they said he initially refused to pull over.

Theft: A woman reported her purse, cellphone and wallet missing while at a Market Street salon.

Criminal damaging: Two of a car’s tires were slashed in the 700 block of Canterbury Lane.

Animal cruelty: A South Avenue woman discovered several kittens in a plastic bag had been placed in a trash can.

Theft: A man and a woman inquired about videos at Family Video, 5205 Market St., before an employee noticed two cash drawers open and an undisclosed sum of money missing.

Theft: A woman stole three bottles of perfume from Ulta Beauty, 403 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A man in a white T-shirt stole an 18-karat gold diamond ring valued at $12,000 from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Threats: After finding that his credit card had been cut in half, a Salinas Trail man reported a caller threatened to get someone to kill the accuser.

Vandalism: A car in the 700 block of Indianola Road had its driver’s-side tires damaged. The damage estimate was $450.

Theft: A 16-year-old Boardman boy, along with Blake A. Vore, 18, of 7520 Hitchcock Road, Boardman, were charged with stealing two chain hooks from Walmart.

June 30

Theft: Raymond L. Edwards III, 53, of 153 S. Truesdale Ave., Youngstown, was charged with theft and criminal trespassing after multiple packages of razor blades were stolen from Walmart. Edwards also was at the business in violation of a criminal-trespassing warning, a report said.

Recovered property: A Warren man’s stolen 2007 Cadillac STS vehicle was found in the 500 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Harassment: A West Boulevard woman said her former boyfriend has been continually banging on her door and ringing her doorbell, and has refused to leave.

Arrest: Michael J. Cole, 18, of 411 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown, faced misdemeanor charges of aggravated menacing and carrying a concealed weapon after a Poland man told authorities that while at a U.S. Route 224 fast-food restaurant, someone came toward him with a handgun before fleeing. When Cole was taken into custody on Doral Drive, police found a BB gun that closely resembled a 9 mm firearm, they said.

Theft: Officers took custody of 24-year-old Lakeisha S. Jarmon, 924 Sunshine Ave., Youngstown, who was accused of stealing two DVDs from Walmart.

Citation: Authorities responded to a vehicular crash in the 7300 block of Southern Boulevard, where they cited 57-year-old Rodney J. Hoover, 144 Erskine Ave., Boardman, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: Police at a Market Street motel took into custody 36-year-old Dominic F. Felleti after learning Felleti, of 731 Oakridge Drive, Boardman, was wanted on a Niles warrant.

Theft: A $100 bicycle was removed from a carport in the 8500 block of Southern Boulevard.

Vehicle theft: A 2000 Kawasaki Ninja 900 motorcycle was stolen from a carport in the 70 block of Lemans Drive.

July 1

Attempted theft: A business owner in the 200 block of Boardman-Canfield Road reported seeing an elderly man trying to steal one of his landscaping rocks.

Theft/criminal mischief: An Indianola Road man reported his gas cap missing, then discovered someone had placed an unknown substance in his car’s gas tank.

Theft: Crystal D. Steinbeck, 27, of 838 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of roughly $79 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

Indecency: A Southwoods Drive woman told officers a man in his early to mid-30s with brown hair and in jeans shorts exposed himself to her.

Theft: Arielle K. Easterling, 21, of 7400 West Blvd., Boardman, was charged in the theft of a $43 bottle of perfume from the JC Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle at a Boardman-Poland Road fast-food restaurant was found with minor scratches to its passenger side.

Arrest: Richard D. Williams, 24, of 4635 Canterbury Lane, Boardman, faced one misdemeanor count each of inducing panic and making a false alarm after several people at J.D. Byrider Systems Inc., 7871 Market St., reported Williams entered and told them he had just been shot and asked to use their cellphones. Williams, who also was wanted on a probation-violation charge, changed his story regarding when he was supposedly injured and made a similar false claim at a South Avenue gas station to get a ride, a report showed.

Theft: A Maple Drive woman alleged her daughter stole and pawned at least $9,350 worth of her jewelry.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 600 block of McClurg Road was found with a slashed tire and paint damage.

Theft: A Youngstown man reported his wallet missing while at a Market Street gas station.

Theft: Four juveniles reportedly stole 20 to 25 bags of candy from a Speedway gas station, 649 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Counterfeit: Police charged 24-year-old Ashley M. Vanderhoff with one felony count of criminal simulation after saying Vanderhoff, of 624 Cherry St., Salem, tried to cash a fraudulent check at Checksmart, 112 Boardman-Poland Road. She also was wanted on a misdemeanor Columbiana County warrant charging receiving stolen property.
