Scrappers, Jammers split doubleheader

JAMESTOWN, N.Y.

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers split a doubleheader on Wednesday with the Jamestown Jammers, winning the first game 5-3 then dropping the nightcap 7-3.

The opener was the completion of Tuesday’s game that was suspended by rain in the second inning. Manuel Boscan drove in three runs and Claudio Bautista scored twice for the Scrappers (7-10).

The Scrappers scored two runs in the second and fifth innings. Reliever Harold Guerrero (1-0) earned the win when he pitched the fourth and fifth innings.

In the second game, the Scrappers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

Ryan Battaglia homered and Paul Hendrix doubled in that frame. Tyler Booth’s infield single drove in two runs.

But the Jammers (9-6) tied the game at 3 in their next at-bat then added four more runs in the fifth inning.

Scrappers starter Caleb Hamrick (1-2) took the loss.
