Nine young Trumbull County women will compete at 7:30 p.m. July 9 for the title of Miss Trumbull County Fair 2013.
The pageant takes place during the Trumbull County Fair which runs July 9 through 14.
The winner will promote the fair and represent the Trumbull County Agricultural Society. She will receive a $1,000 savings bond sponsored by Jim Brown Seeds and Tom Sawyer Farm.
Four phases to the competition are r sum /essay, introductory walk-on, autobiographical speech and on-stage question. The contestants also will be judged on poise and overall appearance.
The competitors follow:
Megan Adams, 17, of Bristolville is the daughter of Patrick and Lisa Adams. She volunteers for blood drives, spaghetti dinners and Pennies for Patients, and she is a student at Kent State University.
Kayla Agnew, 15, of Farmdale is the daughter of Jeffrey and Paula Agnew. She is participates in Vacation Bible School, varsity sports and 4-H, and she attends Joseph Badger High School.
Khilan Cottrell, 15, of Kinsman is the daughter of Heather Cottrell. She plans to study dairy science and is a student at Joseph Badger High School. Khilan participates in running, shooting sports and basketball.
Sonya Drake, 18, of Newton Falls is the daughter of Linda Drake. She is an independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay and enjoys volunteering with various community organizations. Sonya is a student at the Institute of Holistic Health Careers.
Victoria Meade, 17, of Warren is the daughter of Michelle and Brian Meade. Victoria is involved in Trumbull New Theatre and is a member of the Interact Club. She attends Warren G. Harding High School.
LeAnn Penn, 17, of Cortland is the daughter of Jeffery and Diane Penn. She plays three varsity sports, enjoys reading and volunteers at Shepherd of the Valley. LeAnn is a senior at Maplewood High School.
Kaitlyn Roberts, 18, of Cortland is the daughter of Jenny and Butch Roberts. She is a member of 4 Star Horsemanship 4-H Club and Boot Scootin’ Buckeyes Equine Drill Team. Kaitlyn is a graduate of Maplewood High School and Trumbull Career and Technical Center’s Equine Science Program.
Ashley Wolanzyk, 16, of Cortland is the daughter of Michael and Cathy Wolanzyk. She is a varsity cross-country runner and attends Lakeview High School.
Amanda Wylie, 15, of Hubbard is the daughter of Jeffrey and Patricia Wylie. She is a Girl Scout, Junior Fair Board member and six-year 4-H member. Amanda is a student at Hubbard High School.
Gabriela Trevino of Warren, Miss Trumbull County Fair 2012, will crown the winner. She is a graduate of Howland High School. Assisting her will be Madonna Chism Pinkard, of 21 WFMJ-TV, as mistress of ceremonies; and Miss Ohio 2013, Heather Wells of Warren, who is a former 4-H member and was Miss Trumbull County Fair in 2008.
