Mercer County commissioner apologizes for DUI arrest
MERCER, Pa. (AP) — Mercer County Commissioner Brian Beader has apologized for his drunken-driving arrest at a Pennsylvania State Police checkpoint and says his actions were “foolish.”
Beader says in a statement issued today that “he should never have been driving” and doesn’t anticipate that his voluntary blood-alcohol test will “bode well.”
Troopers have yet to say what the test revealed after Beader, a 43-year-old Democrat from Hermitage, was arrested about 1:40 a.m. Saturday. State police say Beader was stopped by a roving checkpoint after a trooper saw him driving erratically. Police released Beader to his wife’s custody.
