Police found a Camp-bell man passed out in a running car at a Youngstown-Poland Road parking lot about 7 p.m. Monday.

Officers were called to investigate a report of a man slumped over the wheel of his car.

They found 18-year-old Karl Adams of Sanders Avenue passed out.

An officer awakened him and shut the engine off, reports said.

Adams smelled of alcohol, and there was an open can of beer in the car, reports said.

He flunked a field- sobriety test and registered a 0.127 blood- alcohol content when he gave a breath test.

The legal limit for intoxication in Ohio is 0.08.

When police searched the car, they found a needle and two spoons.

Reports said Adams told officers he had a heroin problem but had not taken any that day.

He was booked into the Mahoning County jail on charges of driving under the influence, possession of an open container and possession of drug-abuse instruments.
