Youngstown man sued for negligence

YOUNGSTOWN

A Struthers man has sued a Youngstown man he says seriously injured him by negligently failing to maintain assured clear distance in Struthers’ July 4 parade in 2011.

Thomas A. Blough, of Sexton Street, and his wife, Gena Marie, sued Daniel S. Ferreri, of Cover Drive, in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Blough said he was sitting with his legs overhanging the tailgate of a pickup truck during the parade, when the vehicle Ferreri was driving rear-ended the truck, crushing Blough’s left leg between the vehicles, while they were eastbound on Sexton Street.

Ferreri could not be reached to comment.

The lawsuit, filed last week, demands a jury trial and damages in excess of $25,000. It is assigned to Judge Maureen A. Sweeney.
