Former YSU pitcher Justin Thomas opts out of contract

Former Youngstown State pitcher Justin Thomas has opted out of his contract with the Oakland A's and is now a free agent.

He went 3-6 with a 4.48 ERA in 16 starts with the AAA Sacramento River Cats this season.

He sent out this tweet on Tuesday afternoon: "Really going to miss Sacramento and all of my @RiverCats teammates. Best of Luck to everyone this year and in the future."

Thomas signed a minor league deal with the A's in November. He has pitched in the major leagues for the Mariners, Pirates, Red Sox and Yankees.
